Gift Card still expires in CaliforniaPosted on 09/20/2009
Gift Cards expire in CaliforniaMall finds gift card loophole
In an article recently written it has become clear that California's law to insure that no gift cards ever expire in California, certain malls and stores are finding loopholes. In an article about the mall that did not accept a cift card from 2001, the mall suggests that it is not subject to the California law which states that gift cards can not expire because it has a parent company in Colorado. This is a thin argumant and will not likely stand, but it is important to consider. While the laws of California and other states have protected the givers and recipients of gift cards much safer from expiration, no laws are perfect and gift cards are still subject to the problems of expiration. You can give gift cards with much more confidence these days but know that nothing is perfect and they are not 100% protected. Return to overview |
