Gift Cards on the Up and Up:

Anyone who watches gift cards as much as I do (and I understand if you do not) knows that they have been doing very well as of late. 

Gift cards have gained significantly in popularity as of late and have taken the gift-giving world by storm.

Giftcards.com has recently reached a milestone that is bound to make anyone associated with gift cards happy.  Yesterday, Giftcards.com announced the sale of its one-millionth gift card.

Most analysts projected a decline in gift card sales as they thought they would follow the trend of most non-necessary goods.  But Giftcards.com sales of prepaid Visa debit cards has surpassed projections and actually increased over last years’ numbers.

One reason for the increase may be that recipients of the prepaid Visa debit card can use the card to pay bills.  “I think that flexibility and budgeting are key when shoppers are looking to purchase gift cards,” said Jason Wolfe, CEO of Giftcards.com.

Giftcards.com has also begun allowing consumers to customize certain gift cards.  Consumers can now upload photos and add personal messages on mailers.  The ability to make gift cards more personal has surely played a role in Giftcards.com success.

Whatever the reason, gift cards seem to have surpassed everyone’s expectations.  It is great to be part of something reaching such a significant milestone.
