Ticketmaster Offers Gift Cards and an Apology.

Ticketmaster, the concert and sporting event ticket seller, found itself in hot water this week. 

They inadvertently began offering tickets to Phish concerts at Red Rocks in Colorado a week before they were scheduled to go on sale.

Phish, a rock band that has not toured in a number of years, has quite a following that eagerly bought up the tickets.  When fans discovered the tickets they thought they had purchased were going to be taken back, Ticketmaster was in a bad spot.

To try to calm upset customers and stop the bad press, Ticketmaster offered $50 gift cards to all the fans who had purchased the tickets.  The cards are can be redeemed for anything Ticketmaster offers online, over the phone, or at its retail locations.

Although there are sure to be customers who remain upset over the mistake, they can now use the gift cards to purchase tickets for the shows when they go on sale next week.  As hard as they try to be perfect, companies make mistake.  It is great to see Ticketmaster using gift cards as a way to provide quality customer service when glitches do occur.
