AT&T Reaches Settlement

AT&T recently reached a settlement with the New York State Attorney Generals office regarding gift cards given out to customers who signed up for wireless service beginning back in 2005. 

Many customers were offered gift cards as an incentive to use AT&T as their wireless service.

Customers were told the gift cards were like debit cards and could be used anywhere debit cards were accepted.  In fact, the cards came with a lengthy list of limitations and many customers were upset, feeling the wireless giant had misled them.

If you received a gift card that has gone unused and has since expired, AT&T will provide you with a new gift card that will function as a debit card and can be used anywhere Visa is accepted.

It is estimated that some 200,000 AT&T customers in New York State will be receiving the new cards; AT&T plans to contact each customer individually to make sure the problem is corrected.
