Donate Your Gift Card Balance to a Good Cause.

The Salvation Army has recently begun to employ an interesting new method of receiving donations:

Gift Cards.

The social service organization has set up a website that allows anyone to donate unused gift card balances.  The site is easy to use, requiring only a few simple steps to donate.

The idea behind the program is that many consumers will simply throw away their gift cards when their balances became low, so why not develop a way for them to donate their balances online.  Though each donation may only be a few cents, thousands of donations from across the country will quickly add up and allow the Salvation Army to generate a lot of funding.

Though the Salvation Army’s main fund raising campaign is during the holiday season, they need donations all year long to keep their social programs running.  The gift card donation site is one way they are able to complete their mission.
