Home Depot uncovers Gift Card fraud

Rogue manager steals $46,000 via gift cards at Home Depot

Home Depot in Atlanta found a manager that was using the stock numbers of very big ticket items including hot tubs and electric saws to make fake refunds. The fake refunds were then applied to Home Depot gift cards which he then distributed to friends.

Most likely, the manager was selling the funded home depot gift cards at half price to people he knew. He had stolen $46,000 via this 'fake' gift card approach before being stopped and arrested. Twenty three people were indicted in this scam and the primary theif is accused of 53 counts of theft.
