Valentine's Day Cards for Guns Exchange a Success.

The sheriff of a small county in South Carolina used an interesting tactic to raise awareness of gun violence on Valentine’s Day. 

The sheriff’s office offered red roses and $50 Best Buy Gift Cards in exchange for firearms: Roses and a single gift card for a rifle and roses and two cards for a handgun.

A mix of males and females, both young and old showed up in line before the event started. Almost 200 weapons were collected and over 300 Best Buy Gift cards were issued in exchange.

The sheriff’s office considered the event a success.  Every gun collected was fully functional and the swap gave the sheriff’s office an opportunity to educate those who participated about the dangers of gun violence.
