Ticketmaster remains primary source for Gift Cards to events

Gift Card providers to Broadway shows and more remain scarce

There are a number of competitors popping up across the nation to TicketMaster for that simple act of buying tickets. This has been great as it seemed as though TicketMaster enjoyed a virtual monopoly in the early nineties. This monopoly seemed to come to a head as bands such as pearl jam went all the way to DC to testify.

To date, however, it does not appear as though a major competitor in the space of gift cards for events exists. At times, gift cards can be bought directly from the theater or venue but this eliminates the choice that is so important to gift cards.

With gift cards being a $80 billion dollar industry it can be safe to assume that gift cards for tickets and events are at least a $500 million business. This is a big enough market to warrant competition. TicketMaster should face some new companies in the near future.
