Companies needing to keep customers and sales numbers up are wading into the discount gift card game. The belief by the companies such as Costco is that they take a loss on the gift card but in turn gain a customer who will then spend over the amount of the gift card as well as come back for more later.
The deals vary but Costco is offering a $100 gift card for $79.99. Other companies have similar discounts. They generally limit the amount of discount gift cards to one per customer and to one gift card per purchase.
The deals are often short-lived and vary between stores, but check your favorite store and see if they are offering a deal.
