Give an iTunes gift card to someone and certianly their first thought is "NICE! who's album do I need to buy? Should I go for Pearl Jam? Tool? MJ?" What they may think after applying the gift card to their iTunes account is "maybe I need a game, or a movie, or a tv show"
That's right, iTunes gift cards can be applied to more than just music. There has been some question and speculation around this but it has been confirmed by iTunes support. It makes sense that apple would not want to limit users to music on iTunes as they clearly are selling more than music. I think a large part of the confusion comes from the fact that there is a difference betwen apple gift cards and itunes gift cards. Perhaps the best way to indicate this difference is that you can't go to apple.com and order the latest apple computer with an iTunes gift card and conversely, you won't be adding TROY or Rocky IV to your collection with an apple gift card.
