My question for the readers is, how well do these gift card exchanges work and how low must I expect to go in terms of margin. Can I turn"sell" my 1,000 Nordstrom gift card for $900 cash or is $500 a more realistic number. I have trouble believing that these market places are able to py 80% or 90% of the card value. Certianly somewhere in the world they could find a buyer for these cards and make the margin but that assumes they are big enough and trusted enough to win the business. That is where the challenge lies.
The majority (if not all) of the gift card providers seem to be somewhat fringe. For example, I just spent time on gift card rescue and the site employed one of the talking-humans that preach to you as you are on the site. This screams of scam and cheap to me and does not bread trust.
Anyone who has used the gift card exchanges, can you please give input on the experience? I would love to know how it went and so would our readers. Thanks in advance for any input from team giftcertificateguide.com!
